I got a pointer to this blog entry in my Google Alerts this morning. It's an article on how to write a C application that talks to a MySQL database. And it's done using the CDT. Very cool!
This is exactly the kind of article we need more of, showing the CDT in action solving real world problems. The CDT can be used for anything but a lot of people still don't know that yet.
Maybe we need a 'getting started with cdt' series on EclipseZone's front page. Fancy putting together a couple of examples e.g. 'hello world'?
ReplyDeleteAlex.
Well, if the traffic in #eclipse is any indication, then yes, a 'CDT getting started guide' would be most welcome.
ReplyDeleteDoug: have you ever considered lurking in there to watch the questions? It's about a 3-way split between Java, C/C++, and php questions, in about that order.
More CDT docs (or at least a section in the CDT wiki) about setup problems / debugging would probably help people out a lot.
With my split between QNX work, leading the CDT project, and trying to get Wascana off the ground, I don't have much time left over. I have to rely on the community to get more involved in stuff like IRC and article writing.
